However it can be difficult to know when you need to hire a VA, let alone admit that you need help in this area. There are some key pointers that can flag up that you’re ready to delegate that admin.
You frequently (always?) end up working evenings and weekends, you’re late for everything and your social life is a thing of the past. It’s easy to see that you’re doing too much and you need someone to share the load.
2. You don’t know what you’re doing
PowerPoint presentations take hours, you’re fed up with Word not doing what you want it to, and as for Excel? If you have to look up that formula one more time you’ll scream! It’s time to bring in an expert.
3. Your business is growing
You’ve taken on more clients and you’re struggling to keep up with the workload. Offloading some of the admin is a no-brainer.
4. Your business is stagnating
You haven’t had a sniff of a new client for months. Or you have but by the time you’ve followed up with them they’ve gone to a competitor. Make them a priority and give the admin to someone else.
5. Your business processes are out of date
Client onboarding takes too long and you keep forgetting to follow up with existing customers because your systems have changed and your processes aren’t fit for purpose. You haven’t got the time to review and refresh them – it’s an ideal task to delegate.
6. You keep missing things
Details get missed, emails aren’t sent, voicemails aren’t followed up. If you’re busy and working with outdated processes it’s easy to start missing the little things. And then the big things. Having someone else in the team ensures all the i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed.
7. You hate admin
You have the time to do it. But you’d rather stick needles in your eyes while watching Gigli, Cats and Sex Lives of the Potato Men on loop. There’s no shame in outsourcing stuff you just don’t like doing.
8. You feel overwhelmed
On a more serious note if the admin has piled up so much that you don’t know where to start and it’s keeping you awake at night then start delegating. A problem shared is a problem halved. And with a VA on board it’s not a problem anymore.
9. You’re not enjoying work anymore
Most self-employed people do their job because we love it. Or at least enjoy what we do. If admin and paperwork is sucking the joy out of the day job then get someone else to do it.
If any (or all) of the above sound familiar then you’re ready to hire a VA – even if you haven’t realised it yet. Give me a call to find out how my team can relieve the stress, give you back your evenings, and streamline your business.
